MINNESOTA TWINS ALL-TIME BATTING ORDER

The only thing I have to say about this lineup and batting order is that I sure would like to be the manager delivering it to the home plate umpire. And since this is the American League, we’ll make use of the designated hitter, rather than making Bert wield a bat.

1. Rod Carew, 2B

A great hitter to all fields, and also a terrific base runner. He could hit first or second.

2. Joe Mauer, C

Joe will go down in baseball history as the greatest catcher and one of the best hitters ever. Fits well in the two slot.

3. Tony Oliva, RF

Tony is a great number-three hitter. Maybe the best hitter in the lineup, and he could hit with power.

4. Harmon Killebrew, 3B

Who else would bat clean-up but this all-time home run giant?

5. Kent Hrbek, 1B

Herbie and Kirby could be reversed in the order. Kent was a good hitter and could hit with power.

6. Kirby Puckett, CF

Again, a good hitter with good power.

7. Justin Morneau, DH

He could hit for both average and power.

8. Bob Allison, LF

A guy with more than 250 career home runs batting eighth!?! I’d hate to be on the mound facing this lineup.

9. Zoilo Versalles, SS

Zoilo was a good leadoff man for the Twins in his day, but here he serves as a “second leadoff hitter” at the end of the lineup.
